The problem with these stats is that we are not even quarter of the way through the season yet, it would have been better to do a similar comparrisons at the same point with other seasons
@Brandon Purdy So you didn’t understand my point about context? Yes he will be talked about, but how he will be talked about is the important part. It will sometimes be necessary to talk about him, but did you need to mention him in your original comment? Weren’t the other examples you gave more than enough to validate your point? If yes, then I just don’t see the need to mention him when you could avoid it. That’s the crux of my argument, if you still insist on talking about him a positive light when it really isn’t needed I can only really take that as you honouring him, which I find weird considering what he did.
@hans hansen If talking about Karl Malone when I'm talking basketball is honoring him. Then I'm guilty. I will be guilty in the future. I have the ability to separate whatever he did on and off the court. You don't. Sorry, but he was too good and will be talked about.
The problem is, most of these guys aren't going to maintain this level of production for the rest of the season. 1 of the 12 players who are having a historical season is going to maintain their elite level of production, and they'll win the MVP.
The quality of his videos the stats that he shows is just sooo good. I don't even know this was happening. I'm so hyped up this season. In Jimmy's content I trust 💜
@Bones Jones he compared vastly different sample sizes without even mentioning it (season starts to entire seasons). He did not consider those players who did accumulate 42 ppg, rpg and apg but did not win an MVP. He presented the MVP ladder as if it were some reliable stat to cite, instead of the loose assessment it is at this point, particularly with so many good players.
@enkeltrik I don't look into this stuff too much, check Basketball Reference every once in a while for a few players, nothing else. When did he falsely present data?
@Bones Jones indeed I did. And so did others if you read some of the comments here. I can pinpoint exactly where jxmy presented data in false or misleading ways to give his sensationalist style fake credibility. It's utterly obvious.
Yes hut his data presentation and analysis is almost never honest and always sensationalist. He has to use his voice to get views because it's entertaining, but he's deliberately fooling less informed viewers in almost every video.
yo jimmy can you make a video on players like jeremy lin, derrick rose, and blake griffin? like a what - if video about rookies who started off really well and then went downhill from there? I've been watching ur content for 3 years now and i love it so much. would really appreciate bro. thanks.
Not sure you can put those three players into the same box of "rookies who started off well and then went downhill". Rose was an MVP with multiple great seasons before an injury compromised him and now he's still playing well but not at the same level. Griffin is a similar story but was never anywhere near as great as Rose. Lin had an amazing stretch of games in one season and that's about all that can be said for him. So, again, three very different players.
When you compare ppg or other stat lines against historical records, would it not make sense to take into account that nowadays more points are scored in games? I.e. rather than focusing on ppg, it could be more telling to compare the percentage of total points that an individual has contributed.

In defence of the old-school MVP votes: It feels like the perception of the terminology has changed throughout the years. Like nowadays it often just comes down to "Best Player" while it originally was more like the player who was the best in relation to his teammates. To give a guy credit even if he didn't make play-offs with his trash team but popped off individually.
Still have this phrase in my mind: the mvp is the guy who mostly makes his teammates valuable. Yes, individual numbers looks fantastic. Does all of these players make their teammates valuable? Let’s find out with any kind of stats
@zoid PH Jimmy with bad take again and conveniently left out how easy it is to get combined 42 pts reb ast these days. Players averaging 27+ points and 15+ combined rebounds and assists are so common the past 5 years. So there are multiple (5+?) players each year with combined 42 stats in the past 5-7 years.

Luka Doncic was available when the Sacramento Kings were determining who to select with their draft pick. The Sacramento Kings selected Marvin Bagley instead of Luka Doncic.
@Dana kaleb back then when they were doing mock drafts. I always had ayton as no. 1 but not bagley at no. 2. Didn't know luka is this good, but i always thought he was better than bagley.
@Dana kaleb nah, i might agree on the ranadive thing but the suns needed a big at the time, because they dont wanna overload on wing because i believe they had josh jackson too if im not wrong
I’ve been saying this for a while but there should be MVP and also Offensive Player of the Year award similar to the NFL simply because we’re living in an age of unbelievable offensive production and it feels wrong to leave guys out of that recognition. If this was the case, in this season so far we could have Giannis be MVP (better all round player offense and defense) and Doncic get Offensive Player of the Year for his insane PER and offensive stats.
@Afshin Ghazanfari He’s top 5 in spg, top 15 in defensive rating, and more this season. So yeah he’s no longer a negative. That narrative is old and dying so you haters can find something else to shit on him for. 🤣
Dude, Jimmy, take this as a compliment. I truly don’t care the first thing about the NBA, but I watch your stuff because you’re so good at what you do. Your videos are simply incredible, keep doing what you do man.

@Airball Edits on IG thats a stupid argument. Maaaan sports people have no critical thinking skills. Value isnt determined by total wins its determined by how big the gap is between when youre on the court vs off the court Real (+/-) should be the primary factor for determining value. That literally what the stat is designed for . Of course theres nuance to everything but team wins is literally the worst way to determine INDIVIDUAL value Take GS and Dallas. GS would undoubtedly be the worst team in NBA history if not for Steph (as evidenced by both his Historic [+/-] and the eye test.) Dallas is similar. Without Luka doing everything Dallas would be a lottery team. I find it maddening how people give individual players MORE credit for having better players around them for an INDIVIDUAL award The league is too good for one guy to really carry a team fully (another reason steph shoulda won MVP the year he took a bunch of bums into the Play -in tourney) ya need GOOD TEAMMATES to WIN

Jeez bro. You gonna be on sports channel soon. I don't watch basketball much at all but been watching your videos the past few years and feel so informed haha...
As a warriors fan I’m conflicted between wanted the young guys like shai, Luka, ja ect. to win and wanting Steph to get his third. All I know is whoever wins deserves it for sure this year
@ocerco93 that's true for most cases but not all lol. just like in the states. there are people who will ride for their team/players no matter what and there are those who put biases aside. you see that in a lot of the european football social media.

@imBadger Hahaha, you don't watch ball. Steph it 28th in FTA and every single person on the MVP list is above him in free throws. "15 free throws a game" you're hilarious

This was a really amazing an entertaining video. However I do need to mention two things... Firstly, that one of the reasons why Jokic got back to back MVP's was because he wasn't only one of the best players in the world, but he was one of the most consistent ones as well. And I guarantee you that not all 10 of these players are going to keep this level of play up for an entire seasons - While also doing so without injury. And secondly, although all of these players are putting up insane numbers, I personally think it's always better to compare players to their own eras rather than comparing them pound for pound. I mean can you really compare some of Kobe's highest scoring seasons which were done in one of the lowest scoring eras to now? For example, back when Kobe averaged 35.4pts in '06-07 the average points for a team was 98.7, while the average points for a team now is 112.8. So although I'm fully aware that most of these players are not just putting up crazy scoring numbers, but crazy seasons in general, I'm simply trying to point out that context does matter. Great video regardless though, and let's all hope that they all continue to play on this level.
The fact that Anthony Davis y finding his old self and Dame, Zion, Kawhi are injured puts in perspective how stacked the NBA is….Demar, Trae, PG, siakam, Butler, Jokic
Let’s take a moment to appreciate HighRollr’s enthusiasm while he’s educating us in these videos. He is a true basketball fan, probably the best on PLclip
And what jxmy saying is that if this might seem confusing there is a simple explanation : evolution. Between different eras the game has changed alot. And one of the reasons is quantity. Yes quantity affect quality. More teams brings more players. More players brings more competition. More competition leads to increase the odds of improving so you can win which finally leads to more odds for a new star to come up. And as a new star is born others will be inspired ahd motivated to get better so they could stay close or even pass him. A self powered circle. In one word evolution. Which explains why the average level of today's era is better than those from former eras. Which again explains why as the years pass a more complete and better player will consider as the goat. So far we have Bill and Wilt, then Magic Kareem and Larry, then MJ and we might have to wait so we can see who will surpass MJ. I know some don't believe this is possible but in 100 years from now maybe not even one of this players will be in the eternally goat convo.
The NBA MVP really shouldnt be this controversial. It should be the best player on the best team. If youre a top three seed youre in the conversation. Fourth seed or below you shouldnt even be in contention. Putting up big numbers on losing teams is useless. You have to win. This years discussion should be between two people right now: Giannis and Tatum. Both are putting up incredible numbers and are clearly the best players on their teams (which are the two best teams in the NBA at the moment). Guys like Luka Ja Curry etc. just arent winning enough to be considered
I wouldn't read too much into the numbers and stats.. we are currently in a MAJOR inflation period, ironically, in basketball. Just constant non stop chucking of outside shots, literally faster shot clock, players basically aren't allowed to play ANY defense in the regular season, much faster run n gun offenses. The NBA wants every team to be like the 7 seconds or less Suns.. so, yea, the numbers IMO are pretty misleading right now. everyone's numbers are just bloated and padded at the moment. When a guy like Duncan Robinson is making almost $100 million basically off bloated "advance stats" that should tell you everything you need to know. Robinson would be lucky to even ride the bench in the 90s and early 00s.
Yeah we have super athletes today, but dont forget that game gone faster, more 3s,more possesions,no handcheking, you can get assists even if u passed the ball and guy dribbled for like 5 sec... these numbres look impressive, but you just know the rules changed that offence would dominate over defence, and these nr is just nr
Giannis is showing that he is the best two-way player of the league in this era. Monstrous numbers on the offensive end... But it pains me to say that his defensive numbers are impressive in this era. Seeing the stats of the other two (Jordan and Hakeem), I remember when defense was actually producing results. Nowadays, blocking someone AND stealing a ball once per game is impressive enough to win DPOY. Defense is at an all-time low in this era which is probably why these insane offensive numbers all of these stars are showing, though truly impressive and record-breaking, isn't as awe-inspiring to me as it should be. And before people call me an old-head, I'm just about to turn 26 this December. I'm just biased cause defense is my favorite part of any sport, including League of Legends.
@WaveyNavey I'm a Shen jungle main who can build tanky, crit or even ap. I can be both a killer and defender. I just like being tanky more due to its consistency.
@Kyler Jeffrey Commercializing a sport brings in more money for the players which isn't a bad thing. But sacrificing half of the game (a.k.a. making defense way too difficult and offense way too easy) to pander to the casual majority isn't the way to go about it in my opinion.
Bro I went back and watched a 2006 suns game. The atmosphere and flow is so different compared to todays game I really fucking hate how commercialized sports is

This shows how all the changes over the last 20 years have made this game much easier to play. As luca said, it's much easier to play in the NBA. The NBA is a shadow of its self.
Or it means that simply players are more advenced and skilled than ever before. Jayson Tatum would be 2nd best player in the league if he played in the 90s, so would be Shai, Booker and many of them with their shooting ability and those numbers. Simply when you look at the favt that 80% of NBa greatest shooters play right now, you understand how this game revolutionised soo much.
I mean that graph he presents with the 30+ ppg showed this was an anomaly. If it wasn’t, it would’ve gradually increased. But the biggest chunk of more than 1 per season was a longggg time ago. The game isn’t easier. There’s just more players that do more for their team I feel like
Your videos are unmatched my dude. Been tuning in for several years and you break shit down unlike anyone else I’ve seen. The depth in your analysis provides a full picture for the stuff you can’t see w a naked eye. You take your time and it shows. Proof that good channels don’t need to have daily content or scheduled videos. Sometimes that once a month drop is even nicer

Great video Jimmy. Once again the information you somehow accumulate and disseminate is unlike any other. Always look forward to your videos! AND YES, this is one helluva year for the MVP run! That stat line about Steph owning all the spots, NO MATTER the points made, is just comical. (all the while scoring 31 or something is just mind boggling.😵)
The MVP has definitely changed in importance and value over the years. The importance of a game-winning shot is much higher now than before, so the MVP has changed with those factors in mind. The importance of the MVP is based on how valuable that MVP player is to the team's success. For example, what would the Warriors do without Steph Curry? They wouldn't have any success. The MVP is based on the importance that the MVP player has on his team. I also think the NBA MVP changed from being the scoring champion to being the best player who can get their teams to win. The NBA now is focused on who can get their teams to the Playoffs and the Finals. It takes more than just a high scorer to win the MVP now, they have to impact the game in many ways. I think that the new NBA era focuses on high IQ and defense now, not just scoring.
@TheAnswer13 Ofc not, but I was reffering to the comment that was made. Giannis is one of my favourite players, he is Greek, and Serbs and Greeks like each other very much, I was cheering for him in those finals, the guy is a monster really, and probably the best player in the league, and you gotta give props to Milwaukee for building a perfect team around him, but people like to discredit players whose teams do worse, because their star players dont have good supporting cast. For example people discredit Jokic, because his team went out early in the first round, but look at the team they had. With his other two best players on team, they are #2 in the west, and Jokic isnt averaging some crazy numbers, because he doesnt have to, Giannis is #2 in the usg rate, Luka is #4, Embiid is #3, Morant is #5, Shai #7, Tatum #9, KD #10, all those guys that are considered for the MVP also have high usage rates, Curry is #20, and Jokic is #53. A 2-time MVP has less usg rate than his second best player on the team, and he is taking way less shots than any players metioned, he is the most unselfish superstar in the league.
@Mihailo Pavlović So are you going to punish Giannis for example and not give him the MVP just because he has a good supporting cast? That doesn't make sense at all.
I mean without Jokic the Nuggets would be maybe even worse, same probably goes for Dallas without Luka. Without Giannis, I think Milwaukee are still a playoff/play-in team, I would say so about Philly without Embiid, and Boston without Tatum. All of these teams are at least in play-in without these guys. Suns without Booker could be too. But Warriors and the Nuggets especially without Jokic and Curry, are not even making the play-in, no chance
don't forget that numbers in the modern NBA are inflated. similiar to when Wilt played. MJ played during the slowest era of NBA with the least shots taken and ultimately stats produced per player. we have to look at stats in relation to the average stats per game. for example: yes, Wilt Chamberlain grabbed the most rebounds per game in NBA history but if you take his rpg as a % of the average rebounds per game and compare it to Rodman all of a sudden Rodman has more rebounds per game based on the total amount of boards available.
@Jonathan Baird and speaking of hand checking, Jimmy has a terrible video on hand checking which shows he’s a terrible analyst with pure recency bias. He made a video suggesting that handchecking didn’t really exist in the 90’s and early 00’s by cherry picking when it was called then pointed to 1979 rule banning hand checking. What he purposely failed to mention was the various attempts in the 90’s and early 00’s to truly eliminate it. If it was banned in 1979 and it was effective, there wouldn’t be two more attempts in the 90’s and finally the big one in 2004. His video was so bad that I believe two other basketball channels made a video fact checking him. His video is from 3 years ago, might be 4 years now.
@Jonathan Baird that’s mostly what I was referring to. In baseball, there are changes like you describe and others like the strong possibility that MLB might juice the ball on occasion and now managers have entirely changed how long they keep pitchers out there, where to place defensive players, and how batting lineup is formed (no longer is the best power hitter automatically 4th). In basketball, rule changes and game play changes have HUGE effect. I’d say there are two major factors why scoring and efficiency have shot up tremendously in the past decade. One is the explosion of three point shots which have opened up the court and made it easy to score. This impact was direct - the coaches realized the true value of a 3 in that 36% from 3 is 54% from 2 which is really good. But what they may or may not have noticed at the start of rising 3pt shot was that it also stretched the Defense out to make it easier to drive to the hoop. But prior to that, there were rule changes that set up that later transition to the 3. In the early 2000’s the nba began changing rules to encourage faster game AND easier perimeter play. The most notable change was elimination of hand checking in 2004 and almost immediately the best players were now almost all perimeter players.
@HomerOJSimpson A different argument might be that it's dumb to compare players like this at all. Baseball has had a number of different eras where the style of play is drastically different. No one really sits there and compares players from different eras seriously because there's no reason to. Take on-base percentage plus slugging as an example. OPS in the dead ball era is going to be very different than it is now for obvious reasons, so why compare it to more recent eras? Similarly, park sizes have changed and the quality of pitching fluctuates. It just doesn't make sense to compare player performance when there's no constant baseline to compare from.
Hey Jimmy again a stunning video, thank you! Maybe it is worth examining WHY this is happening? Is the talent so much better or is there a combination of rule changes that have allowed such numbers? How was the game played in the past? I honestly don't know the answer to this, I am just curious Thanks!
The sound, the title, the thumbnail, the script, the voice, the edition, the energy, this is "-BY FAR" the best channel i have ever seen, and that include EVERY single sport that exist

Giannis or luka will be mvp if things keep going like they are. Luka stats giannis wins, but giannis has better stats per 36 minutes so i think giannis should get it but im bias

This video probably won’t age well though. Reversion to the mean is going to happen for certain guys. If there is a clear cut best player on the team with the best record they usually wins the mvp anyways.
Which makes me think, if the offensive numbers have never been so high and for so many players, does it mean the defense has never been so low? Particularly player engagement and rules in favour of offensive end.
When you have many people doing what has never been done before, there is reason to be skeptical about how much the change can be attributed to individual skill. Notice these stats are all offensive minus rebounds -- which likely results from the simple fact that more shots are being taken than ever before. Rule changes and game plans have changed the game so much that stat comparisons are not very telling. Now scoring in college basketball is much harder than in the NBA. It is like they are playing knockout.
It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out by the end of the season. I think there's no way that these record shattering stats by each player keep up for all 82, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Rooting for Steph's 3rd MVP though, just gotta get a top 4 seed.
@Eren Lack of athleticism? Nah. First of all, Doncic is quite athletic and especially, athletic enough. Multiple all time greats werent crazy athletic or actually had some of their best perfomances after they lost a bit of their athleticism. He's also not a ball hog. He just plays on the Mavs who barely have any playmaking and even if somebody does, the dropoff with Doncic not handling the ball is so great, that its a bad offensive choice to not have it in his hands. If you think he'd be 'hogging the ball' if he'd play for GS, well, ofc not lol. As for the defense thing, I agree. Virtually all players considered all time greats were great on both sides of the ball. However, Doncic is so talented offensively that he'd still get in the convo if he actually gets the accolades with it.
@chuck Yes I did, he been doing this for 2 seasons now. The only difference is that he's shooting the ball 21 times instead of 16 and 18 the past years but the efficiency was the same. Hell he was actually a 40% 3 point shooter 2 years ago too. So anybody that watched the Thunder even remotely already knewz
@Lonny Breaux because he does a step back so they just call him harden. Probably don't even watch him play. Let alone know he gets most of his points from the post, or inside, and has never shot under 45% unlike harden.
Just to put this into even more perspective, an all-time historic season that in any other season would be an MVP caliber season May not even be good enough for all NBA second team
Can you do just one episode on what these guys numbers would be if they were playing pre-iverson era? Like, where they can’t take 5 steps from beyond the 3 and still make a layup?
i mean i may be dumb but when you say that a few loose votes couldnt happen cuz players are prohibited from voting to their teammates...THAN WHO DID THE BUCKS TEAM MEMBERS VOTE?? they were (in your reality) forced to vote anyone other than KAreem
My guy jimmy's voice when talking about my favourite player Steph was just funny. Just tells how unique the this season is. All time seasons and only one award. A nice time to be an NBA fan🙂🙂
Jimmy, you are terrible at analysis. There multiple players who will have historic seasons because there is no or little defense played today and the pace but high effective scoring leads to way inflated figures. My point is that stat comparisons only really matter when compared to that era. Scoring 28pts a game in 2000 would be like scoring 34 pts today.

@Dakota he literally carried Pat bev and Lou Williams to the playoffs 😂. Wtf are you talking about lol. Didn’t luka choke against the warriors last season when he shot under 40% 3/5 games? Did you forget about that 😂
You mean when Lebron, Curry, KD, Harden, Russ, Kawhi or AD were in their prime ? 🤔Luka isn’t better than prime Lebron and Curry, the rest you can argue but Bron and Curry were on another level
Great video! So many players playing great this year. Ja carries every single play, and Booker isn't close to those other guys, outside of that Lets Go!
I've never seen anyone so poignantly put into perspective the unprecedented level of playing currently happening in the NBA. Your videos are truley phenomenal!
Jimmy needs a spot/segment on ESPN or something. This is seriously some of the best, well thought out, and impressively researched content I’ve ever seen period

His content wouldn't be as good if he were on ESPN. Just imagine if 90% of his videos exclusively talked about the Lakers. Thats basically what ESPN would do to him
Great perspective & Amazing crunching of numbers as usual, but I feel there is one caveat you should have pointed out: you are comparing the crrent season numbers to other seasons numbers when we are barely one third into the season!
The problem with these stats is that we are not even quarter of the way through the season yet, it would have been better to do a similar comparrisons at the same point with other seasons
My first thought when I saw the graph, although you don't get the good content otherwise. Kudos. Hope you have a great week.
LMAOO ALL YALL TALK SO MUCH SHI ABOUT HOW WE’RE ONLY A QURTER WAY AND NOW ALMOST HALFWAY ITS BASICALLY THE SAME
@hans hansen No. I gave them in order. I said Luka had the 5th best and listed the 4 guys who had better games based on gamescore stat.
@Brandon Purdy So you didn’t understand my point about context? Yes he will be talked about, but how he will be talked about is the important part. Nah! That's like saying a good comedian should be a stripper for the Las Vegas strip cuz it's famous for it...
Nah keep himn away from ESPN's hot take system, they'd turn him into a sideshow. Maybe he could sign to B/R which put out good content

This season is literally like a bunch of guys decided to start a my career in real life
Jimmy is the pinnacle of quality over quantity.
Just no no no.
@Kanyepostrandy🎉📈 Jxmy*
cant imagine anything more true
Epitome* but yes.
Jesus Loves you and wants you to accept him as your Lord and saviour
The quality of his videos the stats that he shows is just sooo good. I don't even know this was happening. I'm so hyped up this season. In Jimmy's content I trust 💜
its always exciting to see Jimmy bust out the graphs just to hear the shock and horror in his voice at his findings
@enkeltrik You did your own research?
So, again, three very different players.
bring back trap sax
When you compare ppg or other stat lines against historical records, would it not make sense to take into account that nowadays more points are scored in games? I.e. rather than focusing on ppg, it could be more telling to compare the percentage of total points that an individual has contributed.
Also not fair considering superstars back then averaged 47 min a game
Your videos never disappoint my man! This is another masterpiece 🐐
We appreciate you too! Greatest nba highlights on PLclip

i remember watching your channel back in 2016 during class. good times
gold tier content. it's an amazing time to be an NBA fan
Let’s find out with any kind of stats
this one defiantly took a lot of research. And I love how MJ is in every All-Time stat list there is
Jimmy never disappoints. He doesn't even need clickbait titles or interesting thumbnails. Just his name popping up on the feed gets the click.

All these negative replies are probably from bitter 90's era fans coz they can't accept the league has changed and became the best it's ever been lol

He's good but he's definitely disappointed
Luka Doncic was available when the Sacramento Kings were determining who to select with their draft pick. The Sacramento Kings selected Marvin Bagley instead of Luka Doncic.
@Dana kaleb back then when they were doing mock drafts. I always had ayton as no. 1 but not bagley at no. 2. Didn't know luka is this good, but i always thought he was better than bagley.
@zenmar84 Are you saying Ayton is better than Luka? Really?
I must admit that i was not convince of luka being no. 1 in that draft back then, but not bagley going over luka.
@Darmawan It doesn’t matter. If they picked Luka, they would already have a ring. Sadly they didn’t. They’re enemies now. Pity.
@Dana kaleb nah, i might agree on the ranadive thing but the suns needed a big at the time, because they dont wanna overload on wing because i believe they had josh jackson too if im not wrong
INSANE NUMBERS...Doncic almost averaging a triple double with over 30ppg. WOW

LUKA IS INCREDIBLE. THE BEST IN THE GAME RN !
Scoring title u mean?
The craziest part about Luka is that it still feels like he can get so much better
@T_Fitzo Powell plays 17 minutes a game genius.
@Kingston Hawkeno they’re not you bozo. Dwight Powell is the starting center and he’s by all means a roller
@- Hunt - i just said he can be the GOAT!!! And i watch his every game and you say im a HATER
Omg nba fans these days
@Afshin Ghazanfari He’s top 5 in spg, top 15 in defensive rating, and more this season. So yeah he’s no longer a negative. That narrative is old and dying so you haters can find something else to shit on him for. 🤣
@Prentice Walker nothing you said made sense 🤣
Luka is on another level ...period.
watching jimmy is like watching a netflix docementary but with ads
Dude, Jimmy, take this as a compliment. I truly don’t care the first thing about the NBA, but I watch your stuff because you’re so good at what you do. Your videos are simply incredible, keep doing what you do man.

That’s crazy that Steph has the highest true shooting percentage in history while averaging an insane 32 PPG. The MVP race is wide open.

@alessandro pozzi Yea, Tatum, Giannis and Curry
@Cabnabss Hshshshs tell me you don’t watch Steph curry without telling me
I'd like to see Steph take so many shots that his ts% drops to Iverson level and break Wilt's ppg record in the process
@Airball Edits on IG thats a stupid argument. Maaaan sports people have no critical thinking skills. Value isnt determined by total wins its determined by how big the gap is between when youre on the court vs off the court
Real (+/-) should be the primary factor for determining value. That literally what the stat is designed for . Of course theres nuance to everything but team wins is literally the worst way to determine INDIVIDUAL value
Take GS and Dallas. GS would undoubtedly be the worst team in NBA history if not for Steph (as evidenced by both his Historic [+/-] and the eye test.)
Dallas is similar. Without Luka doing everything Dallas would be a lottery team. I find it maddening how people give individual players MORE credit for having better players around them for an INDIVIDUAL award
The league is too good for one guy to really carry a team fully (another reason steph shoulda won MVP the year he took a bunch of bums into the Play -in tourney) ya need GOOD TEAMMATES to WIN
Why was SGA’s 4.9 rounded to 5 but Tatum’s 7.9 counted as 7?
This has always been my main argument with the Bron and mj debate. Competition and skill level of the players around them is not even remotely close

Huh, I’ve never considered the fact that superstars get more calls. THANKS FOR OPENING MY EYES 😁

Repent to Jesus Christ “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,”
Matthew 6:3 NIV
@rafikz77 the talent was always there, but its rules changing everything, now offence dominate over defence bcs of the rules,it favors massively offence
factos
but the old heads keep saying it was better back in the good old days
No one gonna say anything the season is only 20 games in and 60 more to play lmao it’s gonna change a lot by the end
Let’s take a moment to appreciate HighRollr’s enthusiasm while he’s educating us in these videos. He is a true basketball fan, probably the best on PLclip
Jxmy is misleading you with cherry picking and sensationalism and you're all falling for it hook, line and sinker
By far
he’s always been the best
🙂💭
That suns take 😂
The NBA MVP really shouldnt be this controversial.
Steph’s stats as CRAZY LMAOOOO
Yeah we have super athletes today, but dont forget that game gone faster, more 3s,more possesions,no handcheking, you can get assists even if u passed the ball and guy dribbled for like 5 sec... these numbres look impressive, but you just know the rules changed that offence would dominate over defence, and these nr is just nr
I'm someone who respects greatness, so I know I can't be mad with whoever ends up winning it-- but yeah, I'd like to see Steph get that 3rd MVP
great fucking video jimmy. hope u do one again when the 3 mvp finalists are announced
That's what happened when they're unable to do anything to defend by the rule
Hands down one of the best PLclip channels of ALL-TIME.
daaaaamn, LeBron smashing everyone outta the park with his 2013 totals 4:37. And even matched the year, crazy stuff
No one gets moist over numbers 🤦
@Jackson12 my guy I'm talking about how the graph said he had an average combined totals of 2013 😭 not the 42 it was supposed to say
Are you good he barley had an above average mvp season
Yes spitting facts these days gets you labelled an old head sadly
@WaveyNavey I'm a Shen jungle main who can build tanky, crit or even ap.
I can be both a killer and defender.
I just like being tanky more due to its consistency.
I’m biased cause I’m he killer in league. I don’t tank I jungle or adc.
The atmosphere and flow is so different compared to todays game
I really fucking hate how commercialized sports is

@Chris A what he said
@3n3j0t4 peace was never an option 💀
@3n3j0t4 nahhhh 💀

The depth in your analysis provides a full picture for the stuff you can’t see w a naked eye. You take your time and it shows. Bro. Tracy McGrady didnt win MVP on 2003. It's Tim Duncan duhhh 🤣🤣
Funny no one notice it 😅
It’s a race between Giannis and Luka can’t wait to see more
Great video Jimmy.
Must be the elimination of the "take foul" that's helping all this numbers inflation!
I love it every time Jimmy says:
"Here's a list of every player who has etc etc."
(1 player in the list)
"That's it. That's the whole list."
@Jonathan Baird Jimmy is for good highlights and maybe some story telling but he is terrible at true analysis
@HomerOJSimpson I'll take a look at that, thanks for passing it on.
I honestly don't know the answer to this, I am just curious
Thanks!
The nba needs to hand out mvp to one in the east and one in the west

Does he pay you to say that bullshit?
We need a stat comparison video with insane charts and statistics. Jimmy here’s your next video idea! Lol
Look man, I like Jxmy too, but you can't say that when Secret Base exists
as a basketball and NBA fan I am so happy that we are witnessing probably the greatest season ever.
yeah right ...these player will get hurt or take down time or enter a shooting slump ...it happens every year
Giannis or luka will be mvp if things keep going like they are. Luka stats giannis wins, but giannis has better stats per 36 minutes so i think giannis should get it but im bias
I have never ever hit the like button as much before even watching 10 seconds of a video more than I have with this man's videos. He is legend.
Didn’t want this video to end! Such quality storytelling!
This has gotta be the most positive community on PLclip. All anybody is talking about is how great the video was.

If this was true all college athletes would see success in the NBA but you don’t.
Yeah, Jimmy you continue to be the gold standard for this type of content. Another great vid.
if you picked the mvp i would just believe you.
It'll be interesting to see how this shakes out by the end of the season. I think there's no way that these record shattering stats by each player keep up for all 82, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Rooting for Steph's 3rd MVP though, just gotta get a top 4 seed.
Can you do one to show defensive stats? I'm curious to see how the numbers have changed over time. I suspect a major decrease.
DONCIC HAD ONE GOOD GAME YALL!!! ONE!!!
Great video, love your work. This video just proves how broken the NBA and basketball is. Humans have legit surpassed the limits of the sport.
The fact that SGA is doing what he’s doing and still barely ever gets talked about shows how underrated he is.
@Joseph Trevino I think your sentiment would generally be true, but ... efficiency, and career high assists says, Yes. He would.
@Lonny Breaux i aint no that. thanks
This was a fantastic analysis. One of your best videos. NBA players are off the hook this year!
Just to put this into even more perspective, an all-time historic season that in any other season would be an MVP caliber season May not even be good enough for all NBA second team
Wow.. You are really good in making contents

Jimmy is the pinnacle of quality over quantity.
I think we can all agree the Jimmy is the MVP of statistical NBA content videos. Another banger.
My guy jimmy's voice when talking about my favourite player Steph was just funny. Just tells how unique the this season is. All time seasons and only one award. A nice time to be an NBA fan🙂🙂
Jimmy is really out here humbling every single basketball fan and making us appreciate the sport.
Jimmy you’re such a good narrator thanks for keeping up the quality on these great videos.
Love this video 😂😂 Jimmy does a great job t put everything in perspective
Jimmy, you are terrible at analysis. There multiple players who will have historic seasons because there is no or little defense played today and the pace but high effective scoring leads to way inflated figures. My point is that stat comparisons only really matter when compared to that era. Scoring 28pts a game in 2000 would be like scoring 34 pts today.
Imagine if Luka was playing in the NBA during 2016-20 how he is right now, that would make him stand out so much its insane
Ha. We haven't even seen Prime Luka yet.

@Someone that’s why i said imagine
Don't take greatness for granted.
Who knows if we'll ever see this much talent and drive in the NBA again.
Expecting a great matchup between luka and giannis later. I just hope they'll face each other in the finals at some point in their primes.
this list is the top 0.63% of all NBA players ever, kinda crazy how big the sample size is
Great video! So many players playing great this year. Ja carries every single play, and Booker isn't close to those other guys, outside of that Lets Go!
I've never seen anyone so poignantly put into perspective the unprecedented level of playing currently happening in the NBA. Your videos are truley phenomenal!

Jimmy one of three reasons I look forward to the NBA season
What are the other reasons
Jimmy I don’t know how you do it, I don’t even watch the NBA yet I watch every video you put up. Thanks for the great content!
Giannis best player in the world he deserves the MVP and dpoy and curry ain't even top 25 in the league anymore

Jimmy needs a spot/segment on ESPN or something. This is seriously some of the best, well thought out, and impressively researched content I’ve ever seen period

Nah then he wouldn’t have creative control over it
@N Bee lol
You think ESPN is some sort of achievement? It’s not anymore. Soon you’ll be saying ESPN deserves a spot on PLclip channels.
His content wouldn't be as good if he were on ESPN. Just imagine if 90% of his videos exclusively talked about the Lakers. Thats basically what ESPN would do to him
This video is greatness thanks for the perspective on what we are witnessing this year

Great perspective & Amazing crunching of numbers as usual, but I feel there is one caveat you should have pointed out: you are comparing the crrent season numbers to other seasons numbers when we are barely one third into the season!
I thinks the league should start changing some of rules like they did in the mid 2000’a as that’s part of the reason the leagues gotten like this
